Breaking Down The Ballot
I was asked to create a visual identity for the ‘Breaking Down The Ballot’ social media campaign. The initiative behind this project was to not only educate student voters but to also encourage youth civic engagement through voting.

Planning & Research
The goal for this campaign was to inspire action and I really wanted that to translate visually. When researching activist designs, I came across DIY punk posters from the 80s and knew that was the vibe I wanted to go for. While coming up with moldboards and sketches I remained heavily inspired by the DIY Dadaism movement.
Process
After ideating, I created a couple of different concepts, received and applied feedback, and ultimately came up with the final visual identity. Now that the visual look was nailed down, it was now time to figure out the best approach to organizing the information. In order to convey a message most effectively, as a designer you must understand the message yourself first. Through this project, I did a lot of research into the different roles in order to figure out what information was most important to include as well as what imagery would make the most sense to go along with the text.
Results
Indiana University Bloomington was ranked on Washington Monthly's "America's Best Colleges for Student Voting" list. To make it on the list schools need to have shown a repeated commitment to increasing student voting. Campaigns like ‘Breaking Down the Ballot’ directly help in increasing student voting.
The campaign was featured by IU Bloomington, IU Office of The Provost, PACE (Big 10 voting).
I received a lot of positive feedback from the visuals and I am overall happy with how this project turned out.
